How an Attorney Can Help with Employment & Family Visas
Our firm excels at helping individuals, families, and businesses obtain appropriate visas, such as family preference and employment-based visas. The respective application processes for these visas are notoriously complicated, but we simplify them. How so?
When you work with us, we can do the following on your behalf:
- Determine the visa type you need: One of our lawyers can carefully assess your case, learn more about you and your goals in the U.S., and advise on which visa category is most appropriate.
- Assist with preparing all paperwork and supporting documents: We have seen how confusing it can be to gather the necessary materials for a visa application. With us, you can get clear direction on what to fill out, compile, and submit, reducing the likelihood of application setbacks.
- Keep an eye on your case's progression: After submitting your visa application, it is not uncommon to find yourself waiting months or even years for a decision. However, we can keep tabs on developments in your case and communicate with you as they come.
- Respond promptly to any inquiries or requests for evidence from U.S.C.I.S.: If the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (U.S.C.I.S.) requests clarification or additional documents, we can respond swiftly to not delay your application's progress.

Adjustment of Status vs. Change of Status
Adjustment of status is the process through which a person in the U.S. changes their nonimmigrant status to that of a lawful permanent resident. Often, this is termed "getting a Green Card." Adjustment of status can be accomplished through marriage, family sponsorship, and employment sponsorship, among other avenues.
On the other hand, a change of status is when someone with a nonimmigrant visa applies for another type of nonimmigrant visa without leaving the country. For example, say you are in Utah on a visitor visa (B-1/B-2) but want to attend school this upcoming year at the University of Utah. To do so, you would need to change your visa status from that of a visitor to a student (F-1).
While the names are similar, adjustment and change of status have important differences, as described above. At ImmiVisa Law Group, we routinely help clients with either. If you want to alter your immigration status to pursue education, career goals, or a future with your family in the U.S., contact us today to learn more about your options.
